Winter Sonata Fanfiction 6 of 38

(Kim's reminiscence) Joon-sang raises his innocent gaze and murmurs. "Yes... the place I've longed to visit." Kim looks at him, asking. "Is it _" Taking a breath, Joon-sang says. "It's...not far from here." **  (Kim's reminiscence) About one hour later, Kim and Joon-sang take a cab to Yoo-jin's flat. They sit side by side in the back seat, seeing the cityscape of Seoul outside the windows. Kim says as if he is talking to himself: "I wonder...I doubt that Yoo-jin-si has been back." Joon-sang has his eyes closed for a while, thinking something, then opens them and answers: "According to a friend of mine in France, foreign students like Yoo-jin may complete  master's degrees by now. Well, honestly, I'm not sure she's graduated. But I think she might be back." Kim nods understandingly, then says: "Yes...but even if she's come back,  it doesn't necessarily mean that she stays at her old house, d...

(Kim's reminiscence) The child's cry gets louder. Joon-sang catches the male voice presumably that of the child's father. "Ah! Che-Hyon, Stay with us." Hearing it, he stiffens with his eyes wide open. Sang-hyeok? he mutters. The mother's voice echoes, gently soothing the child. "What's wrong, Che-Hyon?  why are you crying, darling. Come on." Joon-sang freezes. Yoo-jin. "She's not obedient, is she? Whose character did she inherit?"  "Oh, it's obvious, her father's! Good girl!  peekaboo!" It's Yoo-jin's voice. It cannot be misheard. Joon-sang, hearing the everyday life conversation between the happy family, stands alone there, and understands her life. Kim, running back to Joon-sang, notices something weird. "What's wrong?" Joon-san was too devastated to explain. Kim's attention is drawn to the young couple with the child a short distance away. He gasps when he realizes they are Yoo-jin, wh...

(Kim's reminiscence) ** The two of them get in the back seat of the cab again. Joon-san, leaning back against the seat, seems to be absent‐minded. Kim looks at him ,trying to speak something, but ends up saying nothing. Who knows what to say to comfort him? All they can hear in the car is the voices on the radio. ** Kim opens the door to the hotel room where Joon-sang has stayed. Joon-sang slowly walks on the carpet then stops. Kim calls out to him:  "Well, I have to go to the office for now. I'll be back and have dinner with you."  ”Ok" Joon-sang replies with his back to Kim. Kim gathers his thoughts, then speaks to another man's back. "If you wish, you can even return tomorrow, earlier than planned. I mean, to the United States." Joon-sang nods and says yes. Kim leaves, hearing him mumbling: "Thank you, Kim-seonbae..." Kim, silently walking out into the hallway, closes the door and sighs heavily. ** That evening, at the hotel restaurant...

(Kim's reminiscence) ** The next morning, at the cabstand in front of the hotel. Three men stands there: Joon-sang who is leaving for the Island, Kim who comes to see him off, and a young man who is supposed to take care of Joon-sang as his escort. Kim, with his hands in his pockets, cheerfully says,  "Well, be careful, Joon-sang." Joon-sang ,hiding his heartbreak, forces a smile and says. "Yap." Kim shifts his gaze to the young employee (of Marcian) whose face shows no tense. "Hey” Kim intimidatingly continues, "Listen to me." " Keep an eye on this man, Huh?  Whenever you take your eyes off him, he'll be gone. That's happened a lot. He's always disappeared. If you lose him, you're fired!” "What? " The young man takes Kim at his word, looking anxiously at Kim and Joon-sang alternately. Joon-sang laughs merrily. "Come on!" Kim also chuckles. "Well then, see you tomorrow at the pier" Joon-sang cli...

"Mr. Kim, here you are." Yoo-jin puts a glass on the table. Kim, saying thanks, approaches the table and takes a sip of water while standing. She glances at the ceiling and walls nostalgically and says to Joon-sang, who is sitting in the chair. "Joon-sang, may I look around the other rooms?"  "Ah...Of course! You're the one who designed this house. Any room you want to!" Kim adds jokingly. "Make complaints If you find any construction failures, ok?" With a giggle, she goes to see the rooms. Looking alternately at Yoo-jin's back and Joon-sang sitting silently, Kim holds the glass of water and drinks it dry. As he puts down the empty glass, he follows her, saying to him. "Right then, I'll help her."  Leaning back in his chair, Joon-sang gives a small nod. He heaves a sigh and reaches for his tea, which has gone cold. ** Yoo-jin slowly looks around the room designed as a living room(almost empty, with no furniture). "How...

"You and Sang-hyeok-si, of course. Who else?" "Me and Sang-hyeok...?" Yoo-jin wonders for a while, remembering that Joon-sang also said something weird a while ago. "Do you think I married Sang-hyeok? Is that what you mean?"  Kim lightly touches the head of his nose with his finger, wondering if it could be a mistake.  Then he thinks she and Sang-hyeok cradled the girl just two days ago. "Yes, I'm sure you did.  And you have a child. A girl, right?" "A girl..." Yoo-jin mumbles. There is a brief silence. "Could it be Ji-hyun?" Kim nods while saying: "I don't know her name .But I saw you near the apartment in Seoul, holding her a few days ago__" He realizes he just confessed that he(and Joon-sang) had visited there.   "Oh sh*t" Hearing his tweet of regret, Yoo-jin says clearly. ”I got it, Mr. Kim. That girl is Jin-sook's child. And her husband, Yong-gook's." "Jin-sook?" Kim, m...

" I got it.  Kang- Joon-sang!" Y oo-jin lightly nudges Joon-sang after she approaches him. " You haven't changed a bit in three years, Mr. Misunderstanding! " He stands silent for a moment, while she  continues: "Do you really believe that I married Sang-hyeok?" His face gets stiff. "Joon-sang, that  girl wasn't mine! " "   !  " "She is Jin-sook's daughter." He doesn't or can't move, hearing  Yoojin speaks. "The five of us got together  for the first time in three years .  I never dreamed you were there. Oh dear,  God's playing a trick on us." "..." He is at a loss for words. They hear a rattling sound. Kim  brings a chair from the back room. Looking at the two standing in front of the puzzle, he says  in his usual tone. "Hey man! Completely mistaken!" Kim chuckles, places a third chair to the table, and turns to them. "But I don't laugh at you, Joon-sang.  Anyone ...

"Study?  Study what?" Yoo-jin looks alternately at Kim and Joon-sang. "Where do I begin?..." Joon-sang mumbles. " All out of necessity" He takes a breath. "Until I lost my eyesight, I'd never understood how difficult it would be to live without sight. Not at all. I've stumbled over every little step in my own house again and again." She stares at him speaking. "Fortunately, I had some architectural knowledge. I needed it for myself and wished to use it  for all physically challenged."  Kim looks down and listens to him. "It wasn't easy for me (a visually impaired person) to gain high expertise, you know. Right, I couldn't read the book. Nor use a computer. So what I got started  was learning braille.  "Braille"  Yoo-jin murmured. "Yeah, I did whatever I could to learn. Learning braille, making someone reading to me, trying an app that automatically reads sentences." Joon-sang nods. ”Through tri...

Joon-sang says. "Yeah. The doctor told me to undergo surgency as soon as possible." They walk slowly between some trees that are evenly spaced. Yoo-jin asks him: "When did you ...er.. Did you have eyesight for a while...?" He replies matter-of-factly. "No. After the surgery, when I woke up from the anesthesia, I found out I was blind." He says plainly, in jest a bit. "I guess that means I've become a resident of 'the Kingdom of Shadows'." She is silent, recalling  his second car accident: Joon-sang being carried to the operating room on a stretcher, covered by an oxygen mask.     " Joon-sang!"    "Oh, Please!  No!" Yoo-jin murmurs. "You would deny it . But... but I knew it was surely my fault you got hurt." She continues in a tearful voice. "I... I'm sorry. Joon-sang...It's... "  "Yoo-jin" He stops walking. "Give me your hands." He holds his palm out before him. Sti...

Yoo-jin says to Joon-sang. "It was when I took the courses in France.  Maybe right after your surgery..." She traces her memory. "I got a call from Mama. She mentioned the letter." He nods. She says hesitantly. "I didn't ask her the details, but it seemed to be about Dad. And about you..." "Me ?" "Yes. That the surgery was a success and you've got well. I guess...your mother wanted to let me know that you were safe." "..." They both fall silent. Joon-sang, who has been thinking about something with a distant look, quietly opens his mouth. "... Three years ago, I didn't understand my mother at all. She'd made my memories changed. Moreover she convinced me that your father was my father." He recalls his mother sitting in front of the piano, her back shaking. "I...I'm so sorry, Joon-sang." " ' Sorry' ? How dare you! You tore my heart and Yoo-jin's to shreds." "......

"Uh-on, no time to relax." Kim lifts up the shopping bags and quickly climbs the stairs. Puzzled by the fact that Kim is about to leave them behind, Yoo-jin and Joon-sang walk up stairs step by step, side by side. When They get up the stairs, Kim is ready to go out with his luggage. He says: "Joon-sang, I am canceling your reservation for the flight. No problem, huh? " As he puts on his shoes, "Right" says cheerfully. "Give me a call when you decide on your schedule. Well! I'm in no hurry. Take your time." Yoo-jin, seeing Kim stands up and lifts his luggage, says to him in a slightly anxious voice. "Mr. Kim, apparently, cellphones don't work here." He raises his eyebrows. "Whoa! No signal here?” Kim giggles and continues.  "Well then, you don't have to call me. Let me know your plans when you two get back to Seoul." He faces two of them and said in a calm voice: "You are together now. You need neither m...
